Prof. Dharam Vir, on Nov 1965, was awarded the first Government of India scholarship in an open competition to study in the USSR, with a bond to teach at least for3 years at the then proposed JNU, New Delhi.

Work : 1973 to 1983, Assistant Professor, Centre of Russian Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

-Resigned from JNU in 1983.Since 1984 engaged in International business as an entrepreneur and also as a business consultant to a number of large Indian and Russian companies. For more than 13 years worked as a business consultant to some of the Tata Group companies for their business in the former USSR, exporting cosmetics, Pharma, leather goods, setting up 4star hotels on turn-key basis,management of hotels etc.

-Post-USSR break up , in 1992 opened a trading company in Russia andSingapore, became a shareholder and director in partnership with the state owned Russian Steel Engineering company – multi billion dollar entity which had constructed Bhilai, Bokaro and Vizag steel plants on turnkey basis,V/o Tyazhpromexport to set up an Indian subsidiary and carried out contracts in the Indian steel sector.

-Currently a majority share holder/ director  in M/s Gurgaon Info-parks Ltd, a company offering infrastructure to software companies in Gurgaon.

Advisor to the board of the Adventz Group, formerly KK Birla Group,a 3+ Billion dollar industrial group ,helping it build relationship with various Russian Industrial groups for  the Make in India initiative.
